Na skladb\u011b \u00fadajn\u011b pracoval n\u011bkolik let a vytvo\u0159il des\u00edtky verz\u00ed textu \u2013 \u010dasto se hovo\u0159\u00ed a\u017e o osmdes\u00e1ti slok\u00e1ch. Cohen byl zn\u00e1m\u00fd perfekcionismem a hled\u00e1n\u00edm p\u0159esn\u00e9ho v\u00fdrazu. P\u00edse\u0148 tak vznikala jako mozaika biblick\u00fdch motiv\u016f, osobn\u00edch pochybnost\u00ed, erotiky i v\u00edry. Nen\u00ed n\u00e1hodou, \u017ee p\u016fsob\u00ed z\u00e1rove\u0148 duchovn\u011b i velice lidsky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>V&nbsp;textu se objevuj\u00ed odkazy na kr\u00e1le Davida, Samsona a Dalilu, ale nejde samoz\u0159ejm\u011b o n\u00e1bo\u017eenskou skladbu. Cohen s\u00e1m nazna\u010doval, \u017ee ono zvol\u00e1n\u00ed \u201ehallelujah\u201c m\u016f\u017ee b\u00fdt radostn\u00e9 i zlomen\u00e9. P\u00edse\u0148 mluv\u00ed o l\u00e1sce, ztr\u00e1t\u011b i sm\u00ed\u0159en\u00ed \u2013 d\u00edky tomu si v&nbsp;n\u00ed ka\u017ed\u00fd m\u016f\u017ee naj\u00edt n\u011bco jin\u00e9ho. Dnes se tomu t\u011b\u017eko v\u011b\u0159\u00ed, ale skladba, kterou zn\u00e1 cel\u00fd sv\u011bt, zpo\u010d\u00e1tku pro\u0161la t\u00e9m\u011b\u0159 bez odezvy. Jej\u00ed skute\u010dn\u00fd \u010das m\u011bl teprve p\u0159ij\u00edt, a to d\u00edky jin\u00fdm interpret\u016fm. V\u00fdznamnou verzi nato\u010dil John Cale, pozd\u011bji z&nbsp;n\u00ed vych\u00e1zel i slavn\u00fd cover Jeffa Buckleyho. Pr\u00e1v\u011b ten v&nbsp;90. letech prom\u011bnil \u201eHallelujah\u201c v&nbsp;modern\u00ed klasiku.
